I just got off the phone with Seth Breitner, the Executive Director of Parks and Recreation for the city of Elizabethtown and he was very excited about the upcoming grand opening for the Elizabethtown Dog Park.
Seth told me that the feedback from the community has been very positive. The dog park was an idea that the late Mayor Tim Walker had envisioned. In a recent news article in the News Enterprise, Mayor Edna Berger expressed how she is thrilled to finally get the park open.
Seth said his dogs currently enjoy wide-open spaces at their home, so his use for the dog park is not likely. However, the dog park is designed to attract people living in apartment complexes and condos in the area.
I’m super excited about the dog park because it sits on 2.25 acres of land. The park will have two enclosures, one for large dogs and another for small dogs. The park will have benches, waste stations, and water sources for dogs.
The park’s grand opening will be on Saturday, October 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The park is located at Freeman Lake near the Nalls Rd entrance.
Post your thoughts about the dog park. We’d love to hear what the community is thinking about this new pet friendly attraction!
