Gathered together in a small room, friends and family sat around the television to witness a historic moment. The passing of 2013 and the birth of 2014.
My favorite part was watching my 2-year old react to the cacophony that proceeded from our mouths as we unanimously counted down the new year. He jumped, alarmed at the sudden attention on the ball as it descended in New York’s Times Square.
This was a monumental occasion for him. Last year, he fell out before the ball dropped. This year, I was delighted to watch him participate.
Moments later, my dear friend and Josiah’s godfather shared a few encouraging words about friendship.
As we begin this new year, I am focused on spiritual things. It is written, “But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one” (2 Thes 3:3).
As we forgive and forget the things behind us, let us not forget that God establishes us for His purpose. Therefore, make it your resolution to seek Him and His kingdom first because when you do, He has promised to provide you everything else you need.
You have no need to wish or hope. Know that God has your back and He has anointed you for the work that you do. Therefore, do everything with all your might so that He may be glorified through you.
Set goals and make a plan for achieving them. If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time.
Make it a blessed year.
