Pets Are Worth Saving

The PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) Shelter Foundation is a non-profit 501C3 organization founded by Deedie Layman, “a long-time animal rescue advocate for the humane treatment of animals” (About Us, para. 1).

“PAWS Shelter Foundation’s purpose is to build an updated animal shelter that will give maximum comfort and a healthy environment for the many stray animals of Hardin County who are waiting to go to their forever homes” (Our Purpose, para. 1).

The foundation has purchased a building at 220 Peterson Drive in Elizabethtown, KY. Currently, the building is a shell in need of renovation. Upon completion, the new shelter will feature dog acquantaince rooms, an outdoor play area with artificial turf and Powerloo, kennel areas with “separate air controls” for disease prevention, and separate rooms for cats and puppies. The new facility will also feature a communal cat room for social cats.

The renovation will take place once the foundation achieves their goal of raising $1 million.

Currently, Hardin County Animal Control operates out of a building donated to the county by Jan and Bill Schmidt in 1956. The current building is outdated and is not very adoption friendly.

ReALife LLC’s goal is to raise $24,115 by January 13, 2012. Because it is an “All & More” Campaign, ReALife LLC’s owner, Jason Smith, has purposed to contribute any excess funds to the PAWS Shelter Foundation.

When you contribute to ReALife LLC, you will be helping to improve the quality of life of families and their pets in multiple ways. First, you will help to improve pooper-scooper service offered in the fall. Second, you will help ReALife LLC to start production on a new healthier brand of dog food. Finally, when we surpass our goal, your contributions will help to build the new shelter for the PAWS Foundation.
